    1881H Victoria Canadian Silver Dime

After work this morning I headed out to check out a few local sites before hitting the pillow. Unfortunately, out of the five sites I scouted only two have potential for a few good finds. The other three had their grounds scraped at some point and sandy soil was brought in as fill. When memorial cents dated in the 90's start to appear at 8 to 9 inches deep, it is time to move on.

Anyway, one of the other sites still had some of the original old soil left, so I worked the area for about an hour before heading home. From there I dug up several early date wheat cents and a 1881-H Canadian dime. Only 950,000 were minted.

It looks like it is the obverse variety #2, which, while less valuable than obverse variety #1, is worth more than I spent on gas and breakfast. lol

Congrats on the 1881 Canadian dime, Angel! We don't find Canadian coins much at all here in Illinois, so to us they are an exotic find.

What a great piece of silver!

Canada has produced no cents since last year, and now it has officially ceased circulating them as well. A similar move has been debated in the U.S. for more than 20 years, but a choice still stays in limbo.
