    Kellyco Email Ads

    Hi everyone!

Has anyone else been receiving Kellyco ads by email that they had not been receiving before approximately the first week in August? This would be at the email address that you used to register on this forum. Please reply on this thread if so.

    Thank you,

I have not received any Kellyco ads via e-mail, but maybe AOL blocks them as spam.

Me too, but I use the same e-mail for other forums as well, so not sure it is because of AD here.

    Re: Kellyco Email Ads

I've also started receiving them lately. I know they have and my email in the past from a coil I purchased a few years ago. But I had not been getting any emails from them until recently.

I notice it is just the staff here that have answered in the affirmative. I am staff over at FMDF. I am getting them as well and we over at FMDF also just had this new KellyCo person sign up!?! Angi suspects there may be a connection. Don't know if Rudy or anybody else has had this happen to them??!

    Re: Kellyco Email Ads

I knew even before posting the thread that there had to be a connection, Ron... this is my personal email address and I'm very careful of giving it out. Very few people have it. I never use this email address to order things online - I have another email address for that because of the spam. I ordered from Kellyco in the past but it's been almost a decade ago and I didn't even have this address then, so there's no other way they could have it. The timing was perfect as well.

Of course, until they sell the list to whoever and I get more and more spam at an address that I have until now purposefully kept private. The point is that is unethical.

I wonder if there is a way to see if the system has been compromised by them. That would surely be illegal. A good IT guy could direct you to a service that may be connected with law enforcement to see if we were hacked for e mail addresses.

I haven't received any emails from them Ron. On FMDF, a user determines wether to allow others to view their email address, I suspect it is the same here. Since I already get too much spam, from people claiming some penny stock is about to increase in value 1000%, to someone in Nigeria wanting to send me money, I have that email view option turned off.

PS: My spam filter does a good job of catching all the Viagra pharma ads, but nothing from Kellyco.

    Re: Kellyco Email Ads

Members can individually determine if they want users to be able to email them, but the email address is not shown in either case.

I have that unchecked so no one can email me through the forum. Even if I didn't, my address wouldn't show.

At the forum/administrative level I have it shut off across the board (no email addresses are shown).

    Re: Kellyco Email Ads

To be clear, the KCo ads are coming to my Yahoo e-mail, not my GMail account I now use on all the Forums. Originally I had been using that Yahoo account on all Forums, but not for a few years now.

I agree that we shouldn't have to tolerate unsolicited emails.
There are email screening programs (the names escape me at the moment) that basically collects/filters incoming emails from senders and holds them, then some automatically replies back to sender and requests them to fill out a contact information form or confirmation link button to confirm it's not a bot or spam. After receiving this form or return reply link it allows you to accept or decline individual sender email addresses as part of a permission pass/receive list.
One can also place unwanted/unsolicited email addresses in the spam folder to block further inbox emails.
I know it is unfair being forced to take such measures and sale of unauthorized email addresses should be outlawed, but it is an option.

I have memberships to almost as many online forums as Rudy, and have yet to receive an unsolicited email from KellyCo.
I have, however, received unsolicited email from Burger King, to whom I have never divulged my email. As far as I know, I've never even visited the Burger King website, let alone join their forum (assuming there is one). rofl

Yeah; it seems only staff were targeted.

I have managed to keep this email address free of spam for seven years until now. Unfortunately, once you get on a list, it snowballs.
