    Colonial hunt with Del

Dan and I finally got some time to hunt for ourselves We were out the door at 5:30 AM and straggled home around 6PM lol We didn't want to leave, but since the targets were hard to come by, it was time to leave. I had a pretty good day. I found a decent amount of buttons, a nice small buckle, a cool looking bell, and two coin keepers. What I thought was a large cent turned out to be an 1837 advertising token. The 1/2 real is pretty wiped, but I'll take it Felt good to be out in the woods.

I love that old token, I've never seen one like it. Pretty cool that it has a date on it too.

Awesome Spanish silver as well! A half real is an incredible find, even if it's worn.

I would take a hunt like that any day! |

Your Hard Times token is listed in Rulau's book. on page 152. He says Edward Sise, founder of the firm of general commissions and forwarding merchants which issued this car, was born in Dover, N.H. on Sept. 19, 1799 and died on May 25 1868

It is listed with an R-1 Rarity which is considered common. Nevertheless a great find in my book! The old tokens have such interesting history.

Thanks everyone. The small buckle is a plain one and not sure how old, but I'm thinking at least 1700's. Hard to tell what it was used for though. It felt good detecting all day long. Great exercise for the brain lol

Congrats on some nice finds! I had recovered one of those 'EF Sise' tokens, it's an HT 195, someone had flattened mine on the top and bottom for some reason, strange what you sometimes find done to coppers, anyway I thought you'd be interested to know that the Sise company is still in business today. 'General Commission and Forwarding Agents' was actually one of the first Insurance companies in this country.
    keep those finds comin
