    Heatwave in the Midwest!!!

They're predicting 66 degree F Monday. Time to break out the shorts and tee shirt and dust off my equipment.

Things are looking up! Could this Sunday be the first day of metal detecting for me this year? I sure hope so!

I talked with a contractor who has been trying to dig a footer for a building foundation and he says the ground is still frozen down to 30 inches. Hopefully the top 6" to 8" will be thawed by this weekend.

I really hope that the nice weather hits you guys and melts that frost down some. We are suppose to have "3" days over freezing, that's our heat wave.

Here is the forecast for southern Iowa. I'm definitely looking forward to a hunt where I don't have to bring a hatchet!

Here in KY it's supposed to be in the 50s and 60s this coming week. Still snow on the ground. The ground has been frozen since December. That never happens here! This was supposed to be my prime detecting season.

I tried sticking my Lesche digger in the ground all over my yard today, but the ground is still frozen as hard as concrete.

    Hey there Iowa freemindstuck,

Not quite 66 degrees for us here (Iowa too) along the river about half way up on the east side. Hopefully soon.

But we are looking at a heat spell starting Sunday of 40 degrees! We haven't seen the grass here since the last week of November... lots of white stuff.

    Best of luck to you!

30 inches? You'll be digging soon Tony.
Three weeks ago a test hole was drilled in Maquoketa, Iowa (a bit southwest of my hometown)... the frost line was 64 inches.

Good news is we will all be out there digging holes and silver edges very soon.

I am finally going to make it out today. Hopefully the frost line is down far enough to score a couple finds. Good luck all as the season starts up.
