    Ring and Bracelet

    Howdy,
I found the bracelet in a yard at about 5 inches a couple of days ago. No makers mark but it came out of the ground real shiny and I'm pretty sure it's silver.

Last night I had an hour to hunt before dark so I went to a little park just down the street from where I live. As you can see from the pic of the swing set it's not the safest place to let your children play. lol

The park has been hit pretty hard by me and my hunting buddies so I didn't dig anything but rusty nails until I was ready to leave and on my way back to my truck I hit this ring.

2 very nice pieces of jewelry. I hope that the swing set was not the only piece of equipment for the kids.

I always thought that silver in the ground for a long time turns back, or maybe that is only in salt beaches maybe?

It depends on the soil type, but silver generally corrodes very slowly here in Iowa. I have routinely dug silver that has probably been in the ground a hundred years that is almost as shiny as the day it was made.

Real nice bracelet. Love the design of it. I'd be surprised if it wasn't silver. Somewhere there may be a faint mark on it. HUGE ring. Is it white and yellow gold maybe?

I think any water (fresh or salt) will turn silver black, as well as places that do not drain well in parks, fields, etc...

The ring is marked 18K and 950. I wondered the same thing. I just assumed 950 was probably silver. Maybe I'll dig my metal test kit out and do a scratch test.
I think your right about the whole water thing. I've dug a few silver coins from swampy conditions that were coroded.

I'm not a expert. But I believe 950 just refers to the purity, meaning 95% pure. It could refer to 950 pt, sometimes just marked plat. Or could be 95 percent pure silver also known as Mexican silver, or french 1st silver.
