Thread Showcasing Member's Two best Finds of 2013

I guess we should have done this back in January, but now you've had three months to think about it!

Each member is encouraged to post their two best finds of 2013 on this thread. Simply post a photo of each find, a brief comment, and if possible, a link to the original post made in 2013.

Don't be shy! This is not a competition, just a thread for everyone to showcase their two best finds from 2013.

    Post away!

It's always hard to say which were my best finds but I picked two out to show, the half dollar I found in the woods in Battle Creek and the gold ring I found in a Kalamazoo city park.

Here are my two best finds of 2013

I found this 1877 Trade dollar in my friends yard in Crownsville,Md.It was a nice day in March when searched that day.My friend had told me that the B&O railroad conductor once lived there and the tracks used to run right beside his home. The 1876 SeatedLQ,I found in Dec. in a football field across from my home.I`ve researched old maps and found that land was once a farm in the 1860s.

Tony , I'm not sure how I missed this topic

Wow , I see some great finds , all are definitely "finds of the year" or "of a life" time in my book

My two that I've listed represent the epitome of what I strive for cellar hole hunting here in New England.

the first is my 1690 to 1720 solid silver shoe buckle , it is extremely rare to find one this old , all silver and complete. Silver and gold buckles worn back then represented a person with huge wealth , influence and or prominent in the community.

and my second item is this extremely rare 1787 Connecticut state copper , It has been confirmed as a Miller 37.6-B. variety with as few as 5 to 8 known in collections.

Sometimes it's hard to pick favorites, but as I had never found a 2 reale or a seated half dollar I picked these as my best for 2013. The seated half was in the same hole as a seated quarter. The 2 reale came out of a dug up parking lot where I also found an 1817 and 1820 large cent. The 1817 large cent was actually sticking out of the ground.
