    Shield nickel

I was hunting my local park last week and found my first shield nickel, 1869. Not in the best shape but I was excited. Only about 3" deep.

Congrats on your first shield nickel the last two that I've found didn't have a date, I've got one with a date, it's hard to find one that is still readable.

Very nice find, I'm still looking for my 1st. Those nickels usually don't come out of the ground in to good a shape, nice that yours had a date.

Congrats on your first Shield Nickel! That's awesome!

They are almost never in good shape, but yours actually isn't that bad. Still nice details on it and a clear date which seldom happens.

    Great find!

Even though they are usually roached out. It is still very cool to find an example of the original nickel. Congrats!

The other side isn't real good. I mean you can clearly see the 5 and the stars around it. The big thing is I was able to read the date
