1873 Seated Dime Today on my Lunch Hour - PICS ADDED

There is an old city park about 5 minutes from where I work. I don't hunt there often because there doesn't seem to be much left there. The first time I hunted it about 2 years ago an older gentleman stopped and told me that I wouldn't find anything there because he had been hunting it for over 30 years.

Nevertheless, I later found a couple of Indian Heads there, and a surprise Walking Liberty Half that was near the edge of the street. But lately I have struggled to find any old coins there at all.

However, today is such a beautiful day that I just couldn't stand to sit at my desk during lunch, so I went to the old park to see if I could maybe find a deep nickel or something. After about 20 minutes I got a steady 10-40 signal at 7" deep that vaguely sounded like a wheat cent. Boy, was I ever surprised when a silver dime came out of the hole!

When I got back to work I ran it under some water and could then see that it is an 1873 seated dime.

It is really worn but it sure was a nice surprise! It just goes to show you that no site is ever hunted out.

It may be worn, but that's a great old coin. I'm still waiting for my first.
    Congrats on a great lunch.

Obviously the old guy planted it for you so you wouldn't feel bad that he found all the coins already Great find Tony. Worn dimes can read way lower, especially if they're deep. Worn but not worn out, it still looks to be in pretty good shape.

You won't find anything ....right must of been a recent drop from a little kids change when he bought a ice cream cone. Yeah that must be it since your "friend" had cleaned it out already!

nice job Tony. I think a lot of times guys say that about parks so you wont hunt there and they can sort of have it to themselves.

Instead of staying "seated" at your desk for lunch you manage to find a seated during lunch. WTG on sniffing that one out. I can feel Daddydiggers pain....
