    An Old New Guy

Hi everyone! It's great to be on the list. I am only a month into this activity, but am having a blast. I am the proud owner of an AT Pro and of course the mandatory Pro Pointer. I hunt along the beaches, boat ramps, swimming areas, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas and jogging trails in the community where my wife of 53 years and I call home. So far I have concentrated on coins, but am hoping that more familiarization with my gear will produce different and more interesting finds. I am 72 years old and learning comes slower now days, but I am goal driven and usually get what I start out to accomplish. I am not proud and will certainly appreciate all the help I can get. Blah, Blah, Blah....that's enough. God bless y'all and happy hunting.

    Welcome from Illinois!

It sounds like you are off to a good start! No doubt you have discovered how relaxing and enjoyable this hobby is. I am envious of detectorists that have access to beaches, we aren't so fortunate here in the middle of Illinois.

Be sure to keep us updated on your progress with that AT Pro!

Best of luck and happy hunting!

Thanks to all! Happy to have found this site. I'll try not to bore y'all with my meager finds. Right now I'm just happy to find a strong, repeatable signal that's not 12 inches deep.

Thanks Aloldstuff. I hope you are right about the AT Pro. Right now the Pro Mode is a little strange, but I can see how it will save a lot of diggin'. Good Hinton'

Thank Epi-hunter. Happy to be here. BTW, we do not live on the coast, but we have 5 lakes and the association created beaches for swimming and other activities (white sand & all). There are lots of visitors on the weekends and holidays, so I am sure there is something to find, When I am more acquainted with my machine, I am going to give the wet hunting a try.
