    Still more stuff there? Wow. Good enough place to get lucky twice. Looks like an '87. I can't zoom well enough and yes I could try Internet for photos to try an match..

    Yeah, Jim I thought it was 87 also but I wasn't sure. Thanks.
    Dan, I was going to post the following pic of that musket butt with the CT copper because I thought it interesting but I didn't know what it was. Thanks for the ID!

    Oh....and I almost forgot, that large chape was half sticking out of the ground! It was on the lip of a collapsed part of the hole. I found it under leaves while standing IN the hole.
    ...and the copper was only two inches deep. Go figure.

    Drew , I'm thinking the stock plate is a variant of one of the brown bess models but could still date this piece anywhere from about 1722 to well after the 1810.
