2 failed permissions = back to the woods

This weekend's mission was to try and get on someone's 1700's lawn, and/or a recently cleared property probably ripe with old goodies. I got double-disappointed. The cleared property fail was a bit of a surprise, and a bummer as it looks to be getting developed soon.

So, headed out for the ol' walls in the woods strategy again. Fields this time from my occasional scores. A couple ox shoes, tack ring (?), other metal farming bits, and a few shotgun shells. If it gave a +VDI, it got dug.
Got in the back corner of one and started hearing more iron bits in a small area. 1'st target rang up a nice 49-50 VDI, and got my prize for the day. Nice domed button about 7/8" in diameter. Thought it was the top of a 2 piece until I got the dirt out of it at home and see where the shank was. Beat up that area for a while and also managed the handle of a pewter spoon I believe.

Wandered around some more, but only managed a bit of lead near a wall. The place has been hit to death, so glad I got what I did. Best find in a while for me, and a fantastic day to be outside. Got tomorrow and Monday off too. Hopefully I can find someplace with more goodies.

If they do start developing there will be a lot of exposed ground to cover. Maybe a follow up visit might produce some different results.

Those old iron rings sound good at 6-7 inches. Did both owners say no? Good looking button

In this case Ronandari, it's a single lot under 2 acres. Houses around it go back to the 1700's, and for whatever reason this lot looked more like a forest. Old maps clearly show a house there, and 2 barns built later are intact still. The property is owned by a developer here in town now so I figured it would be easy.

Thankya Drew. Buttons are as good as coins in my book. Except they come in more varieties.

Congrats on the cool button. I would definitely keep an eye on that property and give it one more try.
A couple of weeks ago, I tried a house and got no from the women that lived there. The next day, Zrickkid went there and got a yes from her husband. You never know.

Some developers have a problem with the liability issue. Keep on trying though. On one of my hunts the husband said yes. I was able to find his grandmothers silver cross which I gave him BUT when his wife came home it turned into a whole different story. Needless to say that hunt ended very shortly after.
