Went cellar hole hunting on Sunday with foundation hunter, the first signals i got were these 3 buttons within 2 ft. of each other, the back marks say R & W Robinson Extra Rich, pretty neat finding these so close to each other.

Some nice looking buttons. Are they gold gilt? If so try Dan's cleaning method. Sweet that they were only 2 ft apart.

That happens more than one would think....I guess they were all attached to a garment that rotted away. Your buttons were from 1834-1848 when that back mark was used. http://relicman.com/buttons/zBackmarkRobinson.html

That is very cool finding 3 identical buttons together like that! Most likely they were all attached to the same garment at one time in the mid 1800s. Really neat find, thanks for sharing it with the forum!
