My best ever New Jersey copper, 7 Indians, Silver, flat buttons etc.

Hit a few spots recently, one being a park that has been pounded. At the park I pulled 102 coins on Sunday including 7 Indians, a couple of buffalos, Merc, Roosie, silver ring and tiny silver heart. One of the Indians was a better date, 1868. Also pulled over 20 wheaties and a bunch of clad and memorials. Sometimes you have to dig through the clad and memorials to get to the better coins. I also pulled a flat button and old buckle from this park. Went with a friend who got permission to hunt a yard. Wasn't much, but I did find the silver Washington and war nickel, in the same hole. Finally, I went to colonial hill (more than 60 coppers have come out of this place) and after 2 hours of nothing pulled what's probably my nicest NJ out of the ground. It's a 1788 M.65-u for those interested. It's a rare variety, but nothing super rare. Much less toasted than the usual colonial I find. Also found a nickel sized flat button there. Also hit a nearby school and woods that have been pounded and pulled a Merc, Indian, flat button and this button sized piece with a star on it.

Wonderful finds! I don't think I've ever seen nicer detail on a dug New Jersey copper! Very clear date and details making it easy to identify the variety.

The silver ring really jumps out at me too. It has an interesting design and just enough natural wear to show that it was worn on someone's finger for a while. You certainly did pull a lot of keepers from that pounded park!

    Lifetime totals:
10 Large Cents, 415 Indian Heads, 2 Two Cent Pieces, 1 Capped Bust Half Dime, 1 Seated Half Dime, 10 Shield Nickels, 68 V Nickels, 124 Buffalo Nickels, 31 War Nickels, 16 Seated Dimes, 131 Barber Dimes, 405 Mercury Dimes, 249 Rosies, 4 Seated Quarters, 18 Barber Quarters, 20 Standing Liberty Quarters, 89 Silver Washingtons, 1 Seated Half, 3 Barber Halves, 16 Walking Liberty Halves

That NJ is stunning, has great details and it's the first time I've ever seen a date on one of those. I'd imagine the date is one of the high points on that particular coin . Great finds Don!!! Love the pictures as well

Very sweet looking New Jersey Don , I love the originality of the designs on these state coppers congrats. the star piece is interesting is it a button , or just plain on the reverse side ?? looks like you also got a shoe buckle frame too its great to be still detecting up in new england at this time of year.

Congrats on getting your best NJ copper. Having the physical ability to dig 102 coins is fantastic and nice silvers, now I think the park has been "pounded"

Thing is, this park is over 500 acres and close to 150 years old. That's why it keeps producing. You just can't hunt out 500 acres. It's also near a revolutionary war site and myself and other have found musket balls here. I also pulled a half real out earlier in the year and know someone else who has also. I'll keep pounding.

What a great pile of coins. I have a special soft spot for Indian Heads. It was the first old coin I ever dug as a kid looking for worms.

Great finds Don. 500 acres huh? Wow...that can be a fall-back site for the rest of your hunting career with that much acreage!
