    Minelab Explorer 2

Hey guys just wanted to get some input on the explorer 2. I contacted a gentleman about purchasing one from him and felt pretty good about it until I started thinking about having it repaired. I've been told minelab will no longer repair these machines? What's your thoughts on this machine and if they do not repair them anymore then how does one get it fixed. He said the machine was perfect, I've seen pics and it looks perfect, covers, even coil cover looks great. Thanks guys in advance for your replies

Minelab does still service the Explorer II.

They no longer service the Explorer S or Explorer XS models.

Here is a link on the Minelab site that lists the obsolete models they no longer service:

I have personally never owned or used an Explorer II, but I have seen other detectorists have great success with one. If you take the time to learn the Explorer II well you should be able to find anything with it that an E-Trac could find. They are very similar machines that operate on the same frequency. The E-Trac has the Xchange capability where you can download programs from the internet, but I have personally never used that and most likely never will.

Here is a website that compares the Explorer II to the E-Trac. Perhaps it would contain some helpful information:

I've had the explorer 11 and I have found sooooooo many silver coins with it. I sold it and bought an etrac and in all honesty I would take my explorer back in a minute. The etrac doesn't have the sweet sounds like the explorer. And I don't feel that it is as deep either. But that's just my two cents!!! Good day
