    On The Board For 2015!

Got out today with Frank to hit some new sites. Temps were in the mid 20's with the top 1" frozen solid. Frank was out of the gate with 2 hits, one of them being frozen solid in a clump of dirt.

After a while we moved onto another site that looked promising but was a bust so we headed back to the site where we began our day. I wandered somewhat far from the hole & was rewarded with my 1st LC of the year. It looks to be a Coronet but no date was visible. Also nabbed a thimble from this site as well.

    HH!
    Roger

Nothing like a "Copper-syckle" to start out the year!

Nice finds even tho no date. Looks more specific to be a Matron so between 1816 and 1839. Check under a scope or at least magnifier to see if you can check how many stars. I can make out the first 5 or 6 stars starting with the one after the date. It looks like spacing up that edge to yield 13 stars but estimating it could be 15 stars. Looks like small letter variety as well.

Congrats on getting out and toughing through that frozen soil Roger. LC in early January...can't be anything but pleasantly happy.

In some cases I had to use my Lesche as an ice pick by hitting it with the backside of my shovel to chip away at the soil.
