    military button

The temp today finally got above 40, so I decided to go out for a short hunt. The ground here is still frozen about 3". I`ve worked this school yard pretty hard in the last 4yrs, so I figured I`d dig out the trash and go for some low tones. My last dig was this military button that rang in as a nickel. Unfortunately the back came out while cleaning. Any ideas?

Robbie its a the "great seal" type design that was started around 1902 for the U.S.Army and is still being used today.

Good find Robbie. Yep, great seal button as Dan said. Could have been from any time from 1902 onward.

Thanks guys, this is my second button like this one. My first one have no back at all. At least this one has the back ,but the shank came out. Now I know what they are.
