Thread: King George III variety

    King George III variety

I could use some help identifying the variety of this kgIII, I found this awhile back. The back is obliterated pretty much but the front is pristine. It's different from any other variety I've seen and was hoping someone could offer some insight. Thank

Luke its definitely an odd looking Copper it looks like a counterfeit type George III (many many were) there is no back to see what so ever huh?? I t sure has some characteristics of some Machin's Mills type coins but I don't see an exact match.

Maybe don in ny or Jeyes will chime in with some insight , its a nice looking coin.

I'll get a picture of the back when I get home, it's odd how obliterated the reverse is in comparison to the obverse. You can see the British flag on the shield and the date line along with a few other features but the rest are gone. Thanks!

The back does still have a fair amount of detail and the green patina.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions guys! this one has been a tough one to nail, one of the most intriguing thigs is the three dots below the shoulder and the realy pudgy face.
