    Bad weather.....

Hope all you folks made it through the storms across the midwest! Some mean tornadoes, high winds and hail....

Yes I agree , the recent midwest storms and tornadoes have been very nasty . I hope our members have fared well ...

This was the town right next to where Ill Digger lives. As you may have seen on the news, the town of Fairdale is virtually destroyed.

I talked to Tim on the phone last night and he and his family are fine. Just a little hail at their house. He told me that he has to drive through the town of Fairdale to get to work and he has to be there at 4:00 a.m. so I'm sure he had an eventful drive this morning.

We are fine here too. Like Tim, we just had some hail and wind, but no damage.

Not to make light of this situation, but I heard a guy on the radio out here say..."I'll take our drought and earthquakes any day over those tornados!"

Eventful drive in for sure. Of course it was still dark when I left at 2:50 a.m. this morning. We woke up to no power. I have to drive through 5 small towns to get to work. Every town was pitch black. As I was about 2 miles away from Fairdale I could see a glow in the sky. It was all the rescue lights I'm sure. I met a police officer who was blocking the road and diverted me. As I started to try and find away around all the aftermath I could see debris out in the fields, ditches but the most sketchy part of the whole drive was when I went down a road I've never been down before, and came upon huge trees laying in the road for about a half a mile with power lines laying all tangled in and amongst them! Probably not too smart but I drove across them and finally pulled into work at 4:06 a.m. Any description wouldn't even start to describe the scene or experience. Like nothing I've ever seen. And hope to never see again. But I had to come home tonight... That's when it really hit home. Just stunning! God bless those people and their families.

Yes Dan we have a basement here at home. Not a nice finished cozy basement, but a place to at least give us a chance for survival.

I'm glad your families are safe. We dodged the bullet here (with the weather predictions, didn't even thunder) but you did too. Glad you guys are OK
