    Third Silver Dollar Today

    Hi everyone,

I found my third silver dollar today. I was hunting an empty lot with my buddies driftwood1963 and and his son JJ. Robert dug a really nice 1890's barber early on so I figured the site had some potential. I wasn't really having much luck having only dug a ornate victorian style buckle and a few diecast toy cars. When I stumbled across a bouncy dollar signal. I actually called them both over to look at the signal. Although I secretly really thought it was probably trash. But boy was I wrong. JJ was a little upset because he had passed it up earlier thinking it was iron, but I'm sure he'll get it next time. Both of my hunting buddies have dug Walkers earlier this year, so before this I was the odd man out. Having been the only one not yet to dig big silver. Today definitely evened the score a bit. lol

    Thanks for looking!

Big silver! I have yet to dig one. Maybe I would think trash too because so many targets I see in that VDI range tend to jump to different VDI after pinpointing and then back into search mode and... turns out to be a can. Noticed it's an 'O' too.

Such a beautiful piece of american history, funny how the trash can turn to silver and the silver can turn to trash! Congrats on your find(s)

Fantastic find! I'd have to imagine the guy or gal wasn't aware they lost it until after they left the site. Otherwise you'd think they'd spend some time searching around.

Tony, with all the silver coins you dig a year. I wouldn't be surprised if silver dollars are all that's left in the midwest.

Yeah the condition is great on this coin. Almost no pocket wear. It must have been dropped pretty close to 1900. It may be the nicest coin I've ever dug.

Unreal what a nondescript corner lot can yield!
    It cleaned up nice!
