    Need help with a Button

I am not a button guy but I found a neat one at a park that dates back to the 1870's. It is a little smaller than a quarter with some gold gilt still on it. It is a 2 pc button with a shank on the back. The back states "Superior Quality".

I found similar looking buttons on line but nothing that quite matches the harp design on this one.

    any ideas?

I can't find one exactly like it either. A photo of the back may help us to determine an approximate date range.

It's obviously music related, either from an old band uniform or possibly a military musician's uniform.

Here is the back. I am sure that there is a Button Expert on this forum that knows that this is.

Lyre's are and ancient instrument used as a motif on buttons to associate with military Musician's , this looks like a late 1800's to very early 1900's era to me from a first look.

I'd guess it's on the early end of Dan's parameter. My reasons are the patina.. and the back definitely looks 1800s.

I've yet to find a button that was "Superior" quality. Very nice find.
