This is my best find ever. Found it 9 inches down with my E-trac with the tornado Coil. It rang up a solid 11-47. Could not believe it when it popped out of the hole. It does have a lot of wear and a hole in it but for me it dont matter. knocked off that on my bucket list. To find one of these in Indiana is next to impossible. How about best coin find of the month?

Wow, really nice find! Judging from the pitting, looks like the ground wasn't so nice to it.

It was in a yard. Me and my buddy have recovered 5 LG cents, 1725 Spanish Neale, 1875 Seated dime, 2 1800 ash buckles 1800 wine tap, 1 gold ring, axe head, wood wedge, 1 Indian, 1 Civil war button. Besides that no much at all. Just joking. This site is the most we have ever found at one place.Name: DSC00210.jpg

better pictures nalc , your coin looks like it was either in a fire or could be a counterfeit from the very pitted looking or uneven background . any history of the house being in a fire??

no fire. I just think it is very old. I have a Barber dime that is pitted. Just the luck of the draw.

On mine it states "50 cents or half dollar" on the edge of the coin. These coins did not have the reeded edges. Just a cool characteristic about these particular coins. I wonder if there are other American silver coins with words on their edge?

What a terrific find! Even my bucket list doesn't expect a find like that.

Congrats on the big silver. I do wonder about age of when they drilled the hole. It is a beveled hole on both sides. You have heard these being made as a pendant, but what I heard recently is that they put the holes in coins to have them on a string.. so they don't lose them. Either it wasn't fool proof or the person who was paid didn't have it on a string before they lost it. Lol.

I wasn't aware of both. I saw one or the other. This coin at least has the 50 below the eagle (which should be 50 C.)
