Welcome from Washington state. Are you new to detecting or have you been doing it a while?

I'm still fairly new to detecting even though I've been into the hobby for a couple of years. I am currently detectorless for the next couple days. I have a nice shiny new Teknetics G2+ LTD in the mail on its way to me. I'm just hoping the ground is still somewhat soft by the time it gets here.

Welcome from Wisconsin! You have a lot of history in New York so you should be rich in areas to hunt and have great potential finds out there. Just be sure to find out about any local ordinances and laws regarding detecting before you head out. Too many areas have bans or restrictions and have become anti detecting, so be safe out there and good luck!
