Short beach hunt-rings and a big disappointment

    Hi all,
Stopped at the beach this morning after work for a short hunt. After a couple pennies found I get a nice 12-43 at 5 inches. Instead of the usual dime I was pleasantly surprised by a beautiful sterling ring!

About a half hour later on the next pass but in the same general area I got a nice sounding 12-08 which turned out to be a badly corroded and beat up ring. Nearby I also found another coin from Norway, identical to the last one I found.

Not much of note until I was headed back to the car. Near the end of the beach I get an ear splitting huge 12-08 at 4 inches. What a heart stopper when I pulled up this huge and very heavy gold religious pendant! Incredibly shiny and golden-until I found the stamp on the loop reading "stainless". Biggest let down yet in my detecting experience since I thought I had my first gold find. Oh well. I'll keep digging! As a side note, another detectorist on the beach did find a really tiny and thin gold toe ring. He was nice enough to let me try and detect it with the CTX to SE how it read on the vdi, but all I got was a low tone with no vdi. Made a few changes to my settings in hope that it reads better over those kinds of targets.

Oh the highs and lows of metal detecting.
But, boy o' boy, that sterling ring surely made it a great hunts
    That's a sweet ring!
    Congrats!

P.S. I think I can see CZ stamped on the inside of the ring.
I'm thinking that that's referring to the stones.

Yes, I think you're right! I saw the .925, but the rest was covered in sand. Just cleaned it and took the photo. But i wasnt really expecting them to be real. I was just really hoping for the gold to be real! Lol
