    Signature Coin - Flat Button

Finally was able to get out and do some detecting and of course went to my favorite field. One section had the corn harvested and the dirt plowed up.

The very first pass gave me a nice looking 1833 LC. That is #20 from this farm. Then the finds became very sparse, little tidbits of lead, shotgun shells (5), crusty old pocketknife. Towards the end the flat button appeared, no shank and no back mark. I did also get what I think is a snap button? Let me know what you think. The front has a nice design on it.

Another coin for the signature and thanks for reading and HH to all.

Wow 20 LC's from that farm?! Does that place have multiple homesites or did the old farmers have holes in their pockets? No wonder that is your favorite spot. Congrats.

Yes I do think about what is hiding down deep.

Haven't found a cellar hole but I think Dan figured it out. His take on this situation is that the farm was much larger and had a lot of help probably paid daily in coin.

Congrats on the 1833 Large Cent, Al!

It still has really nice detail, especially for a field find.

Tony, it is the most productive area I have found as far as coppers go. I have brought Dan, Lee, and RobW and a co-worker to this field hoping someone else besides myself will find a copper. Seeing that I have to work the weekends with some days off during the week, its hard to get someone to accompany me.

Drew, I am going to guess its about 10 acres and I may be on the high side.

Nice finds Al. It is interesting how some fields they plow after harvest and again before harvest. Many of the corn fields I see are only before planting. Pretty good shape for a '33.
Future goals: Capped bust coin, Flowing hair LC, Classic head LC, VT copper, MA copper, Pistareen, Two-cent pc, SLQ, GW inaugural button, Excelsior button, Civil war token, and a gold ring.
