    October Hunts = Goodies!

Hey all. Been a while since I've posted. Summer was way to hot for me so I barely went out. In the time I was off I've been looking for a 68/69 Charger, Super Bee or a 69 Roadrunner.

For the last 3 weeks I went back to a virgin site I discovered several years ago that still produces. I've hit this place hard so I decided to bring a rake with me to clean up the site so that I can really get into those hard to get places. man was there a LOT of raking, LOL!

Here's what I've found this month a Ct. Copper, 1920 Buffalo Nickle, several wheat pennies from 1909 (not a VDB) thru 1920, 1901 IH, 17 Merc. Silver button, 2 more NY Municipal Police Dept. buttons (7 found total), 2 rings (1 Sterling that was bent that I was able to mend back) each have a stone in them. I think 1 is Onyx and the Red one is probably cut glass. Also got a cool cut glass thingy as well as part of a chocolate tong from H.D. Foss & Co.

    HH,
    Roger

Thanks Drew. They've been scattered all over the site. When I find a good target I place a stick in the hole so I can see all over the site where the finds have been scattered to get an idea of the activity there.

Thanks! I hate raking leaves at home and man there were a ton of them here but at least I didn't have to bag them, LOL! I raked them up to the walls.

Nothing on it but my guess any where from 1890's to 1920's. In my opinion the site died in 1920 as none of the coins found to date are 1921 or later.

Thanks Al. It's a 45 min hike in and after a long day of hunting it's a long way back to the car (up & down hills).

No idea but it's thin and fragile so perhaps plated?

Hardy harr, harr, I only do my house and for the most part I just use my lawn mover to mulch them up or I'd have easily 30 bags.

Thanks Dan. This is the 1st site that I've ever cleaned up. Guess I'm just plain crazy but this site has been real good to me and for the most part it's all flat. Getting rid of all the debris got me all of these finds I had missed on previous trips. My goal is to clean this site up completely by winter so by next spring the thaw may push up some deeper targets as well as smaller ones. With the finds I'm getting I'm hoping there is at least 1 Gold coin there from the mid 1900's.

Sorry I missed this one, Rog. I looked at pics before I read write-up. Maybe next time you should bring a leaf blower in with you. Lol. I did notice at a site I was at the weekend before last that in some spots the leaves were almost taking away 3" of detecting depth. It was a trashy area with many overload signals so I am not sure to which extent that was hindering. A lot of nice finds in there you got.
Future goals: Capped bust coin, Flowing hair LC, Classic head LC, VT copper, MA copper, Pistareen, Two-cent pc, SLQ, GW inaugural button, Excelsior button, Civil war token, and a gold ring.

Thanks you should see it now that most of the leaves have dropped. I'm NOT re-raking it, LOL!
