Got my acid test kit today and think it's already paid for itself. I have 3 unmarked silver rings, 2 of which tested positive for sterling. The other I found to be plated.
The real test was the little ring I found recently buried deep at the beach that's not marked. I suspected it was gold due to the lack of corrosion and it's weight/size ratio. The store that buys gold said it wasnt gold, but he only used 1 acid and he didn't seem to want to deal with me anyway. As it turns out it tests positive for 10K!
10K gold, #2 for the year!
