Bull dozed 1920's school became a grocery store last year. Field in front has been picked to death...... but when there is short time and I have to get out it's been a place to renew my sanity. Couple hours there and 5 silvers pop out. Turned my machine's setting for "deep" off. Not sure it helped or not but these were all at 2-3 inches. Slow sweeps, and just listening for the sweet sound of silver. Does the partial standing liberty count for my years totals?

Cut coins are far rarer than whole ones so it definitely is "1". Great finds. Good Luck on future hunts there. WD

Does that mean if I cut all my silvers in half, I'll have twice as many?

Grats on silver. I still can't find an SLQ. The places I hunt are all too old for them. Yours is like a few wheats I've nabbed along the line... they didn't win against the lawnmower.
Future goals: Capped bust coin, Flowing hair LC, Classic head LC, VT copper, MA copper, Pistareen, Two-cent pc, SLQ, GW inaugural button, Excelsior button, Civil war token, and a gold ring.

Yes...count the cut silver as "1". I don't think I have seen a cut SLQ before. it was probably a 1916.

Congrats on the silver! Way to seize the opportunity. Like others have mentioned, I have never seen a cut SLQ before. I am curious if it is a Type 1 or a Type 2. You should be able to tell on the back.
