Found BIG ornate silver this weekend

Finally got out again and hunted an older area of San Jose . This one school has a tiny park on the corner dating from the early 1900. The first hit I got was a +84 at 8-9 inches . I kept digging down and I saw BIG silver . It looks like maybe part of a jewelry box ? Very ornate detail on it . Any ideas ?

Now that is a big chunk of silver. I have to agree with Dan, looks like there was a spot where a chain would of hung.

Interesting piece of silver, though I don't have any idea what it might be from. Congrats on the find!

Cool info , I didn't think of it being a small purse . I'm going to try and get back to the park I found it at today. Maybe I 'll find the rest of it!
