    First V nickel in years!

Got out this morning before the heat and hunted the school two blocks from my house . Both my kids went here and I have hunted it many times over the years . My son found his first Merc dime years ago in the back field and it has given up many wheats . The school was build in the late 60's but the ground it's on had many old farms dating back to the mid 1800's . The best find of a one hour hunt came on the 4th target . I had a +14 at 4 inches . When I put the coin out I could see it was a worn nickel. Then I saw them , stars all around the edge and a very faint outline of Lady Liberty! It is my first V nickel in over 15 years . She is very worn but after my son and I taking a very close look under a magnifier we both saw 1883! I know a lot of you find these all the time but around my area it just doesn't happen . So on to the rest . Other finds were a 1935S wheat , 1959D penny , large stainless cross and a tiny kids ring. Total clad found was $3.88 .

Congrats on the V Nickel, Glen! First year of issue too. There were two varieties. Can you tell by looking at the back if it says "cents" at the bottom or not?

I hope you don't have to wait 15 years to find another one.

    Good job!

WOW, your 1st V and its first year of issue. Strange to see your title highlighting a coin and not a ring...
