    Another oddity. Any ideas?

I found this next to a cellar hole for what looks like what may have been an outbuilding at the former farm site I've been working. It's brass, but was still a tough find in the heavy iron. Looks like an adjuster wheel to something. Any ideas appreciated, thanks!

Obviously part of the alphabet...what a weird and interesting object. The type looks old too.

ID:	60152I am pretty sure that what you have is the top dial portion of an old punch type embossing machine.

Question, why is it missing the "X" in the series?

Perhaps it is on another wheel with numbers and the Y and Z. X, Y and Z are the three least used letters, Z 7% of the time, X 15% and not sure about Y., But then again, it may be from a country that hardly ever uses X. I know its not colonial or the S would kind of look like an f. Something to think about.
