New machine in September

I was just reading some articles about Minelab unveiling a new machine next month in England. Apparently Brandon Niece (Dr Tones) is field testing one now. In his latest video it's mentioned but he says he can't show it yet. But from the hype it's supposed to be a game changer. I've also read about a patent Minelab filed in 2016 about a new technology where they use a magnetic field generator. Hoping it's something good and not a POS like their gold monster.

Whatever it is it needs to be lighter. The Etrac and CTX are high end machines but also high in weight.
I know of a few people who have gone with other machines bc of the weight of minelabs.

im looking forward to it!

I'm one of them. The minelabs are too heavy. I'm looking forward to a game changer.

I agree with the weight issue as well, especially the CTX with the 17 inch coil. Love the capabilities, ground coverage, depth and sensitivity to even the smallest targets so I deal with the weight. But swinging that big coil over a beach or field for 8 to 12 hours at a crack is a killer.

Well it's here. The Equinox! It's light, wireless, submersible and the MOST surprising thing it is affordable! I heard $650 to $900 depending on the model! Hmmmm.

So I have a question on the EQUINOX 800...

EQUINOX 800 USD $899
6 Frequency Options (5kHz, 10kHz, 15kHz, 20kHz, 40kHz, Multi)

The 800 has 5 selectable single frequencies. Is the Multi option using all 5 Frequencies? OR Can you choose what frequencies you want to use 2 to 5? OR is it preset to specific frequencies?

I am very interested in the (5kHZ, 10kHz, 15kHz) combination. This is what the Spectra V3 should have been from the beginning. (Would have avoided all the coil issues.) This, in my opinion, would be the perfect range for older American coins.

Anyone hear of the Processor (CPU) speed this detector uses? It must be much faster than any previous detectors. The price is right on these machines!

Very exciting to have an affordable detector like this on the market. I currently own an E-Trac which has been the best functional detector I have used to date. The Whites Spectra V3 is still my favorite because of the programability, and the crazy depth capabilities, but it just does not hold up to the E-Trac in performance in finding coins in the trash, which is where they are hiding these days. I am ready to jump on this Minelab EQUINOX 800 Detector though! Which means I will have an E-Trac for sale in the $400 range.

Keep Swing'in
Jack

I just saw a video from idetect who is at Detectival. He interviewed a Minelab guy who said it's faster than the deus (of course he would say that). He demonstrated it and it seemed very fast.

guess I will have to get one and compare it with the deus.

I'm not convinced either. Have to wait and see it in action. My bet is that it's only fast in single frequency and the multi frequency probably gets it dogged down.
