This winter has really curtailed our field hunts, cold, snow and when the weather did warm a bit…rain…lots of rain! We have been able to get out a few times and have had some modest success. Last hunt of the year produced three Indian Heads, two by Diane and one for me. I then got a nice 1918 Mercury dime. Diane also found a nice clay marble. My next two hunts were solo hunts, I went to the field where I got the Mercury and I got some relics and two coins a1944 wheat and a 1868 Indian Head! My next hunt I checked out conditions at the old Mystery field I got a buckle there but most of it was too muddy to hunt. I then went back to the field where I got the 1868 Indian and two minutes into the hunt I got a 1912 wheat cent then some relics including a bent spoon. I was just about ready to leave when I got a nice Indian signal and it turned out to be a 1898. I finished my line and turned to walk back to the car I was nearly there when I spied a green disc on top of the ground…a 1929 wheat….three more steps and there was another…this time a 1905 Indian…hey when your good they just surrender!
