Indians, Barbers, and 3 Merry Widows

This past Saturday I met up with Digger Don for some door knocking in a small town. We had limited success but still managed a few keepers. The 3 Merry Widows tin was a first for me. I think it must be a later example. I ended up with three Indian Heads, 15 Wheat Cents, 1 Barber Dime and 1 Mercury Dime. I got another Mercury Dime on Sunday with my brother. As always, it was fun detecting with Digger Don!

This 1894 Indian Head and 1911 Wheat Cent were stuck together:

Good hunting and congrats on the finds! That Merry Widows case is in pretty good condition too, despite the skewering. But I wonder, case says select tested.. so who was doing the testing?

That's a bunch of good finds Tony. Did you guys hit that park you detected before? Odd about the Widows tin, I've never found one and can't recall if Don has found any. Maybe they weren't common in Illinois? Love the 1888 IHC! Great patina too. Glad you were able to get with Don and do some 'tecting! Best wishes and HH, Dave.

We didn't hit the park. I felt that it would probably be a waste of time after I had hit it so hard in previous years. I had found three Seated Dimes in that park, as well as a Shield Nickel and several Indian Heads, Barbers, etc. but I had pounded it to death.

Solid finds as always Tony! I'd love to Dig with Digger Don to see him do his work on those yards also! Ironically I dug my first Merry Widows tin just last year.

When I found it it was bent in half but I managed to straighten it without breaking it. There was also a memorial cent in the same hole, I suspect it came out of the token.
