Another Trip to Wisconsin! Got Me Some Indians!!

Noah and I took another drive up to Wisconsin Saturday. We went back to the town that we hit with Chris a couple of weeks ago. This time we hit a few of the smaller yards in town. The finds were fairly steady all day. At the end of the day, we revisited an 1864 house that we hunted a couple of weeks ago. We only had about a half an hour. It was beginning to get dark.
At the last house I dug two Indians and what I thought was a "V". Turns out it was a very smooth Shield Nickle. The front is smooth, but the reverse had enough detail to ID it.

    Nice finds Don,
I was wondering how your trip went. That 1878 IHC is just beautiful. Lovely patina and smooth texture too. I'm surprised you didn't get any seated coins or another half dollar! You must be slipping. Was it hot that day? LOL. HH my friend, Dave.

Wow Don, didnt even know you were coming up this way! I really wanted to finish that yard since I only got about 10 square feet of it hunted before we got the boot. I had a feeling about that place especially after that saw blade token!
Congrats on more great finds. Hope I can get you guys on one more road trip to Wisconsin this year. Narrowing down a site with colonial activity, early 1600s on.

Terrific hunt, Don! I love that 1878 Indian Head! That is not a common date. It's one of the few Indian Heads I've yet to find. It guides for $35 in G-4 condition. Yours is beautiful!

The Shield Nickel is a neat find too. I can usually tell a Shield Nickel the instant they come out of the ground because they are a smaller diameter than other nickels. Nice find!

    Lifetime totals:
10 Large Cents, 415 Indian Heads, 2 Two Cent Pieces, 1 Capped Bust Half Dime, 1 Seated Half Dime, 10 Shield Nickels, 68 V Nickels, 124 Buffalo Nickels, 31 War Nickels, 16 Seated Dimes, 131 Barber Dimes, 405 Mercury Dimes, 249 Rosies, 4 Seated Quarters, 18 Barber Quarters, 20 Standing Liberty Quarters, 89 Silver Washingtons, 1 Seated Half, 3 Barber Halves, 16 Walking Liberty Halves

Ya Don cleaned up on the Indians. I'm still paying for my seated finds the last time. Great looking 1878 Indian! And pulling the shield and 2 Indians while I found absolutely nothing was..... amazing.
