Hi all,
A bit of park hunting this weekend. I didn't measure how deep the draped was but it was down there. I did measure one of the wheats..9in. Thanks for looking!

Not bad at all Drew, nice finds! My last park hunt had me finding wheats at 9 plus inches as well. Go figure. Might have to get out the PI machine!

Nice snags Drew! Any day with a DB is a good day imo! I see it's an 1802. Are there enough details on the reverse to narrow down a variety? I know the guys at the mint had some serious head scratching issues when making the coins that year. Stems/no stems, 1/100 vs. 1/000 etc.

Nice hunting Drew. Not to shabby getting a DB out of a park now if only the silver were the same...

Nice drape bust, Ive managed a few this year myself and they all come out looking similar to yours, must be the composition that doesn’t allow them to hold up as nice as some other year largies but at the end of the day it’s nice to save this amazing piece of early american currency.
You keep that up Drew and I might have to come out of the woods and try some park hunting myself.

To find an 1802 Draped Bust Large Cent in a public park, it boggles the mind! No doubt, your skills as a detectorist played a large part in that recovery, Drew. I like the way the remaining patina highlights the details in that first photo. Nice!
