1845 Half Dime! My oldest US Silver coin!

Got out yesterday with Danny LaMontagne for some colonial cellar hole digging. We hiked for six miles and, wouldn't you know it, I made my best find at the furthest point in the hike! I found an 1845 Seated Liberty Half Dime. It's now my oldest US Silver Coin and only the second Half Dime I have found in 24 years of detecting. The previous holder of "oldest US Silver" in my collection was the 1856O Half Dime that I dug in a Confederate Civil War mustering camp about 15 - 20 years ago.Name: 45442045_10212813723201507_7067180432856449024_n.jpg

It is nice looking for being stepped on by several oxen and run over with wooden carts!

You had to work for that one Donnie! But it was worth it man. Great find and congrats! If someone told me I needed to hike 10 miles for a pre-1850 US silver coin I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for calling me over when you found that little hot spot. I wouldn't have found it if you hadn't done that Danny. Yes, it was worth the hike! Early US Silver is good for bad hips!
