    Starting 2019 strong!

Weather has cooperated nicely here in SE Michigan the last few weeks and I managed to get out last week during my lunch break and found a 1952 D Washington quarter to start my 2019 year.

Then on Saturday I visited "Morgan" Park and came away with some awesome finds. The first was a 1926 D merc and then 10 ft away I thought I was perhaps digging a wheatie but I saw in my dirt pile the edge of a small silver! I thought for sure I had a seated half dime.

Instead it is a Canadian "Fishy" or 5 cent from 1874. If you look close at the front on the "n" of Canada there appears to be a die crack issue.

A few hours later I found another awesome coin. This one is an 1859 Fattie Indian that is in really nice shape. I just love looking at the clear date on it.

The last few hours of the day I spent detecting another local spot and found a 1914 Barber dime, 1945 merc, a 1928 Buff and an 1887 IHP. Saturday was a awesome day!

Yesterday for lunch I found a war nik and today I found a 1959 rosie. I am not going to bother with taking a pic. My wheat to silver ratio has never looked better...and probably won't last.

Well it appears that the cold is about to set in for awhile so I will just have to stare at these for a month or two.

    Stay warm! Jared

    This post makes me drool!

Way to hit the ground running in 2019, Jared! That Fish Scale is a wonderful little coin! I've never found one but I was with DaddyDigger one time when he found one. They are very cool coins. Nice!

And that 1859 Fatty is really nice looking, especially the obverse. rarely do they come out of the ground looking that good. First year of the Indian Heads and that one is a terrific example. Way to go!

Great start. This weather is indeed fantastic. We are in a cold spell today but back to mid 30's by the weekend. Hope you have more good weather to get out. That is an amazing park you have access to. Thanks for posting. WD

Here's mine (from 10 inches deep, rang up like an Indian Head Cent).
