Rare New York Militia officers belt plate

Been awhile since I posted and I apologize.Last year the year ended with a bang with my 13th GW button out on a hunt with Dan and Donnie then.. Last month the year started out with a bang and dug this belt plate at a cellar. It's not listed in any belt plate book. waiting to hear from the curator at West Point for another opinion. Hope everyone has been well and I'll try to catch up on some of your posts.

Two amazing finds, Dave! Is that the nicest GW you've found, condition-wise? It still has some gilt on it and it cleaned up beautifully. Nice!

That belt plate is the stuff dreams are made of! What a mind blowing find! It is in amazing shape as well. Do you think there is any significance to the 17 stars? I hope they are able to give you more information about it. Spectacular!

Nice to see a post from you here!

AWESOME finds! The GW button is so sweet with the gold gilt showing in the low spots. The belt plate is also amazing. Does the 17 stars pretty much show when it was made? (1803 - 1812) Maybe a War of 1812 plate? Congrats on two great saves and happy hunting, Dave.

Congrats on that beautiful plate, Dave. That had to be a rush. The GW day last year was the best digging day ever for me because all three of us found an Eagle. The only thing better would have been if Jim had found one.Name: 34875776_10211861149947771_4470857184707608576_n.jpg
