    First silver of the year

Got out with Don for a new (old) town and got into the third yard with not even wheat pennies showing up. Hardly any digable targets and was close to giving up but finally had a questionable maybe tone. Sometimes you just don’t dig these. But the depth was good, possibly 8 inches, jumping from penny to half with a little sqeak to it. Anyway after getting through the roots I saw a thin silver disc. 1861 S seated dime! My oldest US! This yard was definitely hit but got one. Was so happy I forgot to dig the nickel signal which was in the same spot. So left it to Don to sweep up!
Anyways here’s the pictures of the rest of the day this finds. sorry I’m terrible at photograph.

That's an uncommon date for sure. Great recovery on a deep dime!

When silver came out from under a tough bunch of roots, and had black staining to it I was hopeful. Don was sure it would be seated even before I was just by the fact I was struggling to figure out what I had. Thanks Mike.

Well done Noah, I always go for the deep odd signals. Almost always a coin too. That's a civil war coin for sure. I see you also got two 1933 Illinois tax tokens (the square things). Was there a nickel in the hole with the dime? Was it the 1916 buffalo that Don found? If so it's amazing that dime was still in circulation sometime after 1916!! Looks like you got your Rosie too! LOL, I'm sure Don was wondering if you would get the trifecta. HH, Dave.
