    Got out for a bit today and nabbed a whole lotta buttons. One has an interesting Shield like design on it and one has the thread still in it.

    Thanks Guys! My 2nd 1859 IH. I'm always amazed when I dig a button & the thread is still there after 100+ years in the dirt.

    Nice digs Rebel. I agree....thread on the shank is always very cool.

    I also love the buttons. In case you didn't know, your A.Benedict button dates from 1823-1829. I see at least one more backmark in your pictures,

    Very nice finds! The shield design almost looks like a strawberry or acorn. Nice score on the big tombac too!
