    First fall hunt

With the kids back to school I can finally be selfish with my free time, hit a new area, it’s was interesting the top 3-4 inches was full of wood ash then at 5 inches was a hard pack clay all the items were at the 5 inch clay line. A few brass/copper thingies. A nice small lock ( no markings) , a copper broach, an almost complete knife with the wood in preservable shape, the elusive marble. The only silver I got isn’t marked but tested , it has crude cut glass stones, my wife tells me it’s a hair fork so yeah got me one of those now, my research said this area was 1850-1900 so I’m pretty sure all these confirm that date. Hoping to get back soon.

i'd be the last person to know what a hair fork is as I lost my hair back in the 90s...and my marbles soon after. You ain't kidding about marbles being elusive. You just found half the amount of marbles I've ever found. I bet there are more goodies there...why the wood ash? Nice job!
