"I've got a screamer over here." I have heard Dan say that so many times over the past few years (always with a grin). That statement is almost always followed by a nice copper or a colonial shoe buckle. This past Sunday, I finally got to say those words to Dan!We went out with one of our friends, Jimmy, and hit some cellar holes. The ground at the first one was frozen solid but I stayed in a spot that had produced some buttons before and found several including this nice machine etched tombac. She had been wanting one for awhile and I knew there should be one laying around at this site.Name: 83830046_10215957337149891_6406657412404609024_n.jpg

Size: 111.0 KB The next site was very large and I started wandering around in a spot behind the hole that didn't look very promising but I was thinking that there might be a cabin close by. Dan was in the same area when I got the first "screamer." It turned out to be a 1798 Draped Bust and while the condition is not great it's still only my second coin minted in the US Mint from the 1700's. Size: 65.0 KB After the Draped Bust I got a signal not far away that I knew was big iron. It sounded like an axe. I told Danny and he said, "Dig it." I started not to but I'm glad I did for reasons you will read in a minute. I dug it and it was an axe at about 12 inches down under a rock. After the axe, I walked a few feet back towards the hole. If I hadn't dug the axe I may have kept going in the other direction. I got another "screamer." I called out to Danny and told him this one sounded shallow. I'm not certain but I think he actually said it could be a shoe buckle. It was! My first complete man sized shoe buckle and it has the Nail Head and Rope Border pattern. After that, I don't think my feet touched the ground the rest of the day.Name: 83988090_10215968208501668_2850871730556108800_o.jpg
