Found this last Sunday. Was a lot of fun doing my best to clean it up, and learn a little about pocket watches identifying it. Finally cleaned enough to track down what it was. 1902 15 jewel Elgin hunters watch. The case itself has stamped on the inside that 25 years warranted, which through lots of fun research, I found that it most likely means that it is gold filled. I get the biggest thrill out of cleaning these lost and found relics. You go from not seeing any writing of any kind, A little cleaning and words just appear out of nowhere. Even though its roached....I love it. I put some pics in, of the only one I found for sale like mine, and its info. Was pretty neat seeing it in its hay day

That's a really neat find, Moose! You did a good job cleaning and identifying it. Over 100 years old! Just think, that was probably someone's prize possession back then.

Size: 32.5 KBThanks Two-Cent!! You know me....I was just blown away pulling it out of the ground. Instantly started stories in my head of how it got there. Lol. Got my very first indian head on the same day.1906. Hopefully it's the start of being able to pick up on getting them out of the ground. I used awful stuff, to get the grime tar substance off. I just had to see the date of my first.

Nice find and nice research. I agree, researching your find is half the fun.

Oldest coin: 1699 William III halfpenny
Purdiest coin: 1832 Capped Bust quarter
Coolest find: USA button with blue threads still on shank

Congrats on your first Indian Head Cent too! I knew it would happen sooner or later. I'm sure it will be the first of many for you.
