800+ Year Old Buckle Cleaned Up

    Hi Friends,
Some of you wanted to see this tiny iron buckle again once I got it cleaned up. I soaked it for 6 days in CLR and that got 99% of the rust off but the tongue was still fused into the wrong position. I soaked it for 3 hours in WD-40 and that did the trick. Over 800 years old and the buckle still works!

Thanks Donnie, I use this method when I think the item is too dainty and would get eaten up if I used electrolysis. Mostly iron buckles or other leather mounts
