Detecting during an Earthquake

Got out to one of my old colonial sites Sunday morning to do a little detecting. The only excitement for the hunt was an earthquake. I heard this loud low rumbling noise and thought it was a squadron of jet fighters from the base on Cape Cod coming towards me. After no jets appeared I thought that must have been an earthquake. Turns out I was about 8 miles from the epicenter. The odd bit is I didn't feel any shaking...just heard the roar from the magnitude 4 quake. I called my wife and she said the dishes and pics on the wall and stuff in the attic rattled pretty good for a few seconds, but no major damage reported anywhere in the area.

I wish I could say it shook a few coppers to the surface but no such luck. ;)

Ron, I know you guys eat mag 4 earthquakes for breakfast in your area but they are pretty rare here in MA.
I felt one that woke me up in the early 1980s in Danbury, CT. It was difficult to roust me in those days. They nicknamed me Sleepy Drew on the college intramural teams. I thought I gained the moniker with my calm, smooth jump shot, but I guess it was because I didn't get up until noon.

 You were draining 3-pointers before there was a a 3-point line. I could never sleep until noon...even if I was up all night......except when I had mono
