Advice for Beg 14 yr Old

Hi friends, a colleague of mine wants to know which detector to get her 14 yr old son who's never detected before. They have decent means and I'd guess he's a pretty smart kid. Any tips? Thanks!!

I've never used one but I hear that the Simplex is really good and under $300. And it's supposed to be easy to use.
    Detectors I use: Minelab Equinox 800 x2
    2020 Season Totals:
    Clad: $85.03
    Indians: 18
    Wheaties: 247
    Silver: 65
    Silver Jewelry: 12
    Gold Jewelry: 1
Favorite 2020 find: 1873 Seated Love Token

Thanks, Jared! I've heard nothing but good things about them. That will go on my list!

Tell her to get the full Deus setup. You then volunteer to take the kid detecting and you take him to your totally worn out sites. After a few months when the kids loses interest, you swoop in and buy it for half price.
Oldest find: 5,000 year old copper spearhead
Oldest coin: 1699 William III halfpenny
Purdiest coin: 1832 Capped Bust quarter
Coolest find: USA button with blue threads still on shank

Yeah, he'll probably find stuff I've walked over for years
