    Little Button

Hey everyone, I find these little guys from time to time. They show up at old timey sites but look plastic. Anyone know what they're made of...or what they buttoned?

In 1840, milk glass buttons, simple utilitarian two to four hole sew through styles of opaque white pressed glass, began to replace brass and gilt buttons in men's wear.

I knew they always come from sites that predate plastic.

I think porcelain buttons were early 1800's as well. But you would never find them on a henway.
Oldest find: 5,000 year old copper spearhead
Oldest coin: 1699 William III halfpenny
Purdiest coin: 1832 Capped Bust quarter
Coolest find: USA button with blue threads still on shank
