Anybody have any thoughts about either of these two buttons?

One is a very military looking stamped brass button that has a Block H on it measures 25mm.
The other is a button depicting a male subject that I have no idea who it is.

Kinda looks like Lee, but I don’t know of any buttons commenting him. It measures 28mm.

Some folks say it is Abe Lincoln but I think the clothing is from an earlier period. I think it is colonial but I haven't found a match yet.

    William Leigh said:

"By construction, it could be inferred that it is early 19th Century at the latest and perhaps 18th Century in origins. If so, it my have European origins."

I still haven't been able to find it though. It bears a resemblance to Charles I (1650-1670), but have no proof that is who it is.

the more i delve into this the figure is either 17th century or 19th century as virtually all men depicted in the 1700's were clean shaven , just the grooming habit or culture i guess.

    A little background history:
    1. King Charles I (1600 – 1649)
    2. was executed for high treason following the English Civil War, when the country briefly fell under the rule of Oliver Cromwell.
    3. He was beheaded on January 30, 1649
    4. His body was embalmed and buried inside a sealed lead coffin in a vault at Windsor Castle.
    5. In 1799 workmen at St George’s Chapel broke through a wall and accidentally discovered his tomb.
    6. Charles’s body was relatively well preserved, and they were easily able to identify him by his distinct facial features and his distinct beard style and severed head.
    7. The pointed beard was uniquely characteristic of the period of the reign of King Charles
    8. The exhumation sparked off a resurgence marked by a flurry of “mourning pieces,” including brooches, lockets, rings, etc. some of which share the same border design as exhibited on your button.

I have never been able to find another button or been able to verify this information. But it seems like the assessment is plausible.
