    Finally got diamonds/gold!!

Hunting a park that has been pounded here in Milwaukee and I was going after specific signals because I knew all the silver etc is likely long gone and I haven't picked one up in years. So I decided about 18 months ago to try a new style of detecting. Paid off finally. Rang up a 12-16 on the CTX with a little clip at the end of the tone. I remember thinking, this doesn't sound like a pull tab (in all fairness, I think that a lot). About 6" down.

I am working with the local police to see if it was reported missing. I would want a photo of it on someone's finger before I give it back. Likely someone's engagement ring. 14K. All diamonds tested positive.

I have more things to post. Been crazy at work with Covid and been spending all my free time detecting and the wife has a honey do list that is insane.

WOW, that is a nice looking ring. I keep saying to myself that I am going to dig more signals that may be rings but don't. Continued posts like this and I will have to start digging them. Congrats on the great recovery. Thx for posting WD

Thank you. I definitely remember that signal sound, but will continue to clean mother earth of pull tabs.

That is a fantastic find! I have been doing the same recently at some of my local parks because the high tones are long gone and all that is left are nickels and hopefully some gold. Great job again!

    Incredible find!

I bet that one made your eyes bug out when you saw it in the dirt!

I would love to put it on the banner! Do you have a better photo of it that isn't blurry?

First time someone ever stated or said to me "great job on the photo". It honestly took me about 25 minutes to figure it out.

Well the head of the police department told me that the ring wasn't stolen and no one had reported a ring missing in the last 10 years that matches where I stated I found it. Mine to keep.

A little late on the reply, but still catching up on posts being offline for quite a while. Huge congrats! Certainly an awesome find, especially here in Milwaukee! Seems there never was the big affluent population losing gold like they seem to do South of the border, but we most definitely have far more than our fair share of pull tabs. Even hunting the same beach for years, I'm still getting thousands of pull tabs every year. Apparently beer was far more popular than gold!

We do like our beer in WI and especially in the 1970s/80s. That day, I decided to dig only 12-09 thru 12-19. It was the second hole I dug. After that it was about 100 pull tabs/beaver tails before I got ornery. Been trying the MKE river several times and not finding anything worthy. If I find a good spot DOD, I will let you and WD know.

HaHa, If you find a good spot, don't publish it publically or for certain it wont be a good spot next time you go out. Just ask Hiluxota about his river of dreams! But yeah, I can show you a couple spots where there's still some old stuff, but much of it is really deep (like 8-20 plus inches) and often surrounded by less deep trash. I've pulled out pockets full of early wheats and a few IHs, and a few good silver including a couple Barbers. Even found a flax seal that's common in England, and the only one I know of found in the US.
As for the river, good luck! The area North of where the North Ave dam was has all been dredged out and lined with tiles, up until you get to where the old lime mines were, which has naturally turned the bed into a solid sheet of rock. Farther North I located several old beach and swimming sites, but every one of them has been removed, and the river bed dredged due to the contaminants. I haven't detected South of the dam because I would need scuba gear.
