    Great news, awesome permission!

    Hello everyone!

Just got some great news today. I was able to speak with the plant manager of Molson Coors here in Milwaukee and got permission to detect the brewery grounds come spring once everything thaws. As far as anyone knows it's virgin ground, and some of the buildings and yards have been undisturbed since being built in 1855. This could prove to be an amazing opportunity!

In an interesting twist I found through some research that the original Miller brewery was formerly the Plank Road Brewery dating to 1849, making that one of the earliest building sites around Milwaukee give or take a few years, and likely one of the oldest remaining sites here. This was also along the first plank road in the state dating to 1848, which prior to that was a dirt military road.

HaHa! Have to keep in mind that beer cans were only around since 1935, and pull tabs only used for about 10 years (1963-1973ish). It's amazing still how many of them are out there. Prior to that it beer only came in kegs or bottles. Bottle caps didn't come into existence until 1890, and probably weren't used on beer bottles until quite some time later. Bottles were sealed with ceramic or stone stoppers with a cork or rubber seal. So hopefully the site will be bereft of pull tabs and bottle caps and most other "modern" trash
